Deciding to live full time on the road is a big, life-changing decision. To help you decide to go for it, here are some of the reasons we decided to take the plunge and why we have not regretted the decision for a moment.

1. See Amazing Things Regularly

Nearly every place has some amazing things to see. We lived in Seattle and it has its share. But when you travel all the time, you see new amazing things all the time. It can do wonders for your spirit, filling you with awe and inspiration almost every day. Not only can you see them, you aren’t on a clock. Stay as long as you like and take your time exploring.

2. Learn about the world and grow

It’s one thing to read about a place, but when you go there you get a much more complete and enriching understanding of it. You get context and meaning only available by being there and interacting with the experience. And with experience comes wisdom, something no one can have too much of.

3. Weather Control

I never paid much attention to weather before going full time. After all, I couldn’t really do anything about it. When you live in an RV, if you don’t like the weather where you are, you can simply relocate to a place where the weather is more to your liking. Now we keep an eye on not only upcoming local weather, but weather along where we want to go. If we see storm clouds ahead, we just change our plans to go somewhere else.

4. It’s Cheap

Living full time is full of ways to save money. The big one is rent. RVs are cheap compared to homes. You don’t have property tax because you don’t have property. Renting space for an RV is cheap compared to most apartments since the plot’s you occupy are small and you generally don’t pay for utilities. You have limited space so you can’t just shop till you drop, you have to learn to go lean on “stuff.”

5. A World of Opportunity and Inspiration

As you expand your horizons you will find both a wealth of inspiration and opportunity. Everywhere you go, new ideas for business and enterprise will jump out at you, ones that you would never see sitting in one place. You will also be meeting a wide range of people and as a result, discover opportunities for work and partnership that would otherwise be closed to you.

6. Freedom

Be where you want when you want. There are all the practical benefits above, but there is simply a feeling of freedom associated with a traveling life that thrills and empowers. When you are rooted down there are many comforts, but should you decide you want to do something daring, a whole host of reasons you can’t or shouldn’t manifest. Living on the road, there is next to nothing that says you can’t go or do what moves you to passion.

7. Go Where the Action Is

If you like sports, conferences, concerts, conventions, or any other kind of event that happens, living on the road lets you go to them wherever they are and always have cheap accommodations. It may take some time to get there, but you pretty much have as much time as you need, provided you plan ahead.

8. Connect With Others

Many considering a full-time life worry about leaving behind friends and family. It is a legitimate concern, but full-time RV live doesn’t mean you can’t spend as much time as you like in the area you used to live, it only means you aren’t limited to doing so. You can go and spend as much time with anyone you care to provided it’s somewhere you can drive to. While you can spend all your time in remote places, it could also enable you to spend months with long lost friends and family without imposing and with only your normal living expenses.
