When I called Deer Creek Valley RV Park on the phone, I was a little worried about the manic and terse manner they took my reservation. But we took a chance, got past this oddity, and found a rather good RV park in Topeka, Kansas.

Deer Creek Valley RV Park is far from perfect, but its good. The thoughtful design of the showers and bathrooms impressed me. They also happen to double as storm shelters, which is a must needed feature in the Kansas. Although the park lacked any tree-shade, it was understandable given the tornado-prone environment. The lawns at each site were pretty much perfect. Each site was roomy and had newly installed hookups. A simple no-fuss RV park that provided us with a nice place to stay.
Other than the pool and the main office, there are not very many places to cool off during the summer heat. I didn’t see any fire rings or pits, but I can understand why not since Kansas is prone to grass wildfires. They lacked an onsite convenience store, but I’m kind of glad for that since many RV park stores don’t offer anything useful. There is a BBQ restaurant within walking distance, but they were oddly closed for the season.
Overall a nice park to stay in and I’d recommend it if you want something easy after a long drive. If it was a few dollars cheaper, I’d give it five stars.
