The Details
The Villages is the name of the RV park while Turning Stone is the name of the very large Indian Casino it services. The Casino is about two blocks up the street and is a large enterprise with theaters, restaurants, spa, convention center, and a grand hotel tower. We are not into gambling, but we found the food offerings there to be surprisingly good. In our experience RV parks maintained by Casinos are typically well run and The Villages no exception.
The designer of the Villages really wanted it to feel like a village in the woods and that is exactly how it feels. All the roads curve around the property and nearly every campsite is near to a well-maintained pond. It all feels very natural, though in truth it is likely only the trees to begin with. Regardless, plenty of birds and small mammals have made the place their home thanks to the lawns, woodlands, and ponds.
Bath houses are located strategically around the park and are both clean and roomy. The clubhouse has a nice store, a spacious TV room, and general purpose workspace. Everyone gets free wireless and Cable TV. We didn’t use the wireless consistently but we tried it out and found the signal to be pretty good. The playground includes a full basketball court, Tennis, and Volleyball. Everything looks new and meticulously maintained.
There is no on-site food service, but a free shuttle can take you to the Casino where you can find a large number of restaurants, baristas, and snack bars. The only real downside for The Villages is the price, which is pretty hefty at just under $50 a night after a discount. At least you know you are getting what you are paying for so I’m not going to fault them for it. I give it a strong recommendation provided you are not looking for a bargain price.
